NEW YORK • The dying of Avicii, one of many largest stars of digital dance music, in Oman final month was a suicide, gossip website TMZ reported on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old Swedish DJ, whose actual identify was Tim Bergling, was found dead on April 20 whereas on trip. TMZ, quoting unnamed sources, mentioned he had slashed himself with a shard of glass, probably from a wine bottle.
His consultant didn’t reply to requests for remark. But his household had mentioned in an open letter final Thursday: “He really struggled with thoughts about meaning, life, happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”
Police within the Gulf sultanate mentioned there was no indication of foul play.
Avicii had lengthy spoken of his issues with alcoholism and his struggles as an introvert to adapt to a hard-partying life-style. He surprised followers in 2016 by retiring from touring on the age of simply 26, though he later returned to the studio.
